What Affordit is designed to do
Affordit helps a user organise their own figures, test a goal and understand the possible monthly impact before committing. It can compare scenarios and explain which inputs are creating pressure.
The result is educational decision support. It is based on the values and assumptions available at the time and does not guarantee future costs, returns, eligibility or approval.
Planning information, not personal advice
Affordit helps users explore scenarios and understand possible monthly trade-offs. It does not provide a personal recommendation to buy, borrow, invest, insure or enter a mortgage.
A score or verdict is not a credit decision and is not passed to a lender to approve or reject a user. Affordit does not decide admission, employment, benefit or statutory-support eligibility.
What guidance may include
- A calculation based on figures entered by the user
- An explanation of the assumptions affecting a result
- A preview showing how a different target, contribution or timeframe changes the plan
- General educational information and links to relevant guides
- A suggestion to review missing costs or seek specialist support
What guidance will not include
- A personal recommendation to buy a regulated product
- A guarantee that a plan is affordable or will succeed
- A lending, insurance, investment or mortgage approval
- A replacement for regulated debt advice or emergency support
- A result changed because a provider paid Affordit
Commercial separation
Any partner content is optional, clearly labelled and separated from the plan result. A commercial relationship cannot change an affordability calculation, score or verdict.
The approved product architecture is plan first, guidance second and any optional partner layer afterwards. Partner payment must not determine recommendation ranking.
When to seek specialist help
Users who need regulated advice, debt advice or urgent financial support should use an appropriately authorised or specialist service. Affordit is not an emergency service.
Specialist routes may include MoneyHelper, Citizens Advice, StepChange, an institution’s hardship or safeguarding service, or an appropriately authorised adviser, depending on the situation.
Challenge an output
Users should be able to correct their inputs, see the key assumptions behind a result and report an explanation that appears incorrect, unsafe or confusing.
Feedback is reviewed through the relevant product, financial-content, safeguarding or complaints route and may lead to correction, clarification or withdrawal of the affected content.
